The Training Retreat

A home away from home, where better behavior begins.

Immersive Training in a Real-Life Home Simulation

We’ve created a one-of-a-kind training environment that bridges the gap between obedience classes and real life. Our immersive program is set inside a custom built facility, where we've transformed individual rooms into realistic home settings—living rooms, dining areas, bedrooms, and more. It’s not just a warehouse—it’s a carefully designed space that mirrors the sights, sounds, and routines of daily life.

Dogs don’t just learn commands—they learn where and how to behave, whether it's staying off the couch, ignoring the doorbell, or settling in during dinner. By training in a simulated home environment, dogs gain confidence and clarity, and owners gain practical, hands-on experience that translates directly to life at home.

This isn't your average training setup—and that’s the point.

Why The Training Retreat?

At The Training Retreat by Barks & Recreation, your dog isn’t just training—they’re retreating from overstimulation, inconsistency, and bad habits. Our immersive program provides a focused, calm, and purpose-built environment where real transformation happens.

This isn’t a kennel. This isn’t a class. This is a Retreat.

1. Real-Life Scenarios in a Purpose-Built Setting

At the Retreat, dogs practice obedience where it counts—around furniture, mealtimes, doorbells, and more. It’s not random commands in a noisy room. It’s meaningful practice in a home-like setting.

2. Calm, Controlled, and Designed for Focus

The Retreat is free from chaotic distractions. Instead, we create intentional scenarios with just enough real-world noise to help dogs learn without being overwhelmed.

3. Customized Coaching in a Retreat Environment

Your dog isn’t just another name on a roster. Our trainers personalize the experience to match your goals—using the Retreat’s flexible, home-simulated layout to recreate whatever situations challenge you most.

4. Home-Like Comfort That Calms

We designed the Retreat to feel like home—even if it’s not technically a house. Sofas, rugs, TVs, doors, and everyday sounds create a familiar vibe that helps dogs settle and learn faster.

5. Social Skills for Real Life

Whether it’s greeting a visitor, walking calmly around other dogs, or ignoring the house cat (yes, we have one), the Retreat helps dogs practice real social skills in a safe, repeatable way.

6. Consistency Through Simulated Home Spaces

Our multiple rooms mimic different parts of a home, allowing dogs to learn commands that transfer across situations—so your dog doesn't just behave in training, they behave at home.

Because our facility is a real home environment, dogs receive the most authentic and effective training experience possible. This approach provides a practical foundation for everyday obedience and behavior, helping dogs adapt seamlessly to real-life situations. Owners also gain hands-on experience, ensuring they can continue reinforcing positive behaviors long after training sessions end.
